Chelsea London : Atletico Madrid match analysis
Is Chelsea a front runner in the upcoming Champions League match?
Comments after the match are quite clear - Chelsea is close to the finals. Is it although such a front runner as some journalists put down? In my opinion, definitely not. Bookmakers as well do not pick Chelsea for a winner of the second leg (odds for home team 2,25, for draw 3,20 for Atletico 3,30). Although the Blues filled Mourinho’s assumptions probably in 100% they did not show nothing that will entitle them to put in as a front runner. Moreover they are definitely weaker technically and because of an injury they’ve lost Peter Czech, John Terry in addition Lampard will not be playing because of yellow cards. Apparently Mark Shwarzer was defending very well, in my opinion lack of Czech goalkeeper weakens the team.
Offensive strength is greater on the side of the Spaniard, and what is most important Atlectico likes to play from counterattack than positional play. At Estadio Calderon it could have been noticed that Atletico does not feel good in positional play. The Blues will definitely not play as offensively therefore Atletico’s chance to score a point will be much higher. To my mind Chelsea has two advantages: firstly their own stadium, at which they can play very well (for instance matches against PSG or Galatasaray) and secondly experience in Champions League at this stage. Is it enough? We will see upcoming Wednesday.... I will bet on Asian Handicap +0,25 odds 1,93, stake 2/10.
Similarly to the previous match I will bet on a low score. The best defensive in the English league versus the best defensive in the Spanish league. It is difficult to expect a large number of goals having in ming the result from the first match and virtually no 100% position to score a goal. I will bet on under 2.5 goals stake 2/10 odds 1,57.
