As the next general election is approaching in May debate around this topic is tense. In the UK general elections are held in one day across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, and altogether are made up of 650 elections, as that is the number of constituencies.

As during each election, the biggest chances of receiving most seat in the general election have two parties - Conservative Party and Labour Party. As you can see in the table below according to the bookmakers, the Conservative Party will win. Bookmakers odds for it oscillate between ⅖ (1,40) and 8/15 (1,53). Second in the run and very close to the leader is Labour Party for which bookmaker are paying from 7/5 (2,40) to 17/10 (2,70). As for general election results, there is always a question of overall majority therefore is any party will receive a number of votes which is larger than the total amount of votes received by all of the other political parties taken together. In the upcoming election, according to the bookmakers, there will be no overall majority, the odds for it oscillate around ⅕ (1,20). Also, when it comes to candidates for the Prime Minister bookmakers odds are compatible. According to them the biggest chances to win has David Cameron from Conservative party, the odds for him are around 4/7 (1,57). Right behind him is Ed Miliband from Labour Party the odds for him oscillate form ⅘ (1,80) to 13/10 (2,30). Other major candidates running for Prime Minister position include Boris Johnson from Conservative Party, Theresa May from Conservative Party, Ed Balls from Labour Party and Nigel Farage from UKIP party.
